Kairos Aether is being Sneaky.
Very, very sneaky.
It's not every day that Connor isn't in his smithy, doing blacksmithy things, smelling like smoke and metal and sweat - all things she's come to not-so-secretly lust for, so she's not exactly complaining there.
And it's certainly not every day that Kai finds herself in his shop, looking to unload something she'd made him.

She settles on the anvil.
When Connor sees it, he'll probably recognize Kai's usual heavy off-white cardstock. This time, using Macleod colors, it's decorated with a stylized 495, using some of the scrollwork she's seen Connor use these many months.

On the inside, there's a simple, You didn't think I forgot, did you?

Considering the tiny bits and pieces of his history he occasionally tells her, he's had plenty of things in his life to be gloomy about. Connor had a rough start, and moodiness is simply a part of who he is, by now.

The stubble is a part of who he is, too, and it's not helping with the ticklishness. "Oh? What did you get me? Will you be sharing it?"

"I'm not sure you're the lacey sort, love. I'll wear it, and you can peel it off of me."

He grins. "Good. Unwrapping presents is the best part." Her neck is nibbled again.

She giggles, and her ear twitches a little. "Guess we should get dinner started then, before you have dessert."

"Want any help cooking?" He pinches her bottom, but he'll let her up any time she wants.

She feels totally safe, and doesn't move an inch, except to wiggle at the pinch. "You think you can behave long enough to make a salad?"

"I have to behave on my birthday??!" He rolls his eyes and gives a put-upon sigh, but grins.

"Sure. I'll make a salad."

((Aaaand paid time expired and have to wait for paycheck Mon to get icons back. :P ))

"What were you planning on doing to that poor salad, Mr. MacLeod? Sheesh. Leave a man to his own defenses.." She sighs heavily, sounding all the world like an old maid.

"Thank you very much. Now bring those lips here so I can thank you properly." Kai lifts slightly into the air, so he doesn't have to lean so far down.

Connor doesn't mind old maids. He can make a perfectly respectable salad, too.

Rather than try to come up with a witty answer, though, he gets busy complying with the request for a kiss, reaching out to stroke her hair and let it run through his fingers while he stretches out the touch of lips on lips.

((It happens!))

Kairos kisses him back, lets her hands slide down his sides. "...Food. We need food, before ... well, before I get any more distracted."

And before he can distract her (more), she slips just out of his reach. "You're gonna need your strength, after all."

"Mmmm..." He grins, watching her, savoring the moment and the anticipation of all the moments yet to come.

After a moment he gets up and comes to help make dinner, though. "Let me know when I can distract you again."

"I guess you could start right now, Handsome, since we've got a minute or two before we can eat!" But still, two really delicious cuts of steak are grilled to perfection, and Kairos has twice baked potatoes with broccoli ready to go back into the oven. All it needs is a sprinkling of cheese and -- there! Kairos opens her arms wide. "C'mere. If you've got that salad ready, anyway."

Connor is very handy in the kitchen, but he never protests when she wants to take over on cooking dinner, especially something this good. She clearly knows his tastes by now. The salad goes together quick, tossed with some sliced tomatoes and carrots and radishes for color. He holds up the artfully prepared bowl for her approval, grinning.
