Kairos Aether is being Sneaky.
Very, very sneaky.
It's not every day that Connor isn't in his smithy, doing blacksmithy things, smelling like smoke and metal and sweat - all things she's come to not-so-secretly lust for, so she's not exactly complaining there.
And it's certainly not every day that Kai finds herself in his shop, looking to unload something she'd made him.

She settles on the anvil.
When Connor sees it, he'll probably recognize Kai's usual heavy off-white cardstock. This time, using Macleod colors, it's decorated with a stylized 495, using some of the scrollwork she's seen Connor use these many months.

On the inside, there's a simple, You didn't think I forgot, did you?

She smiles up at him - lord, she does that a lot! "First class, so I can stretch out my long legs?"

"Sure. I'll make sure they serve Scotch on the plane, too. For you." Who else would it be for? Connor's expressions tend to be mild, but he certainly smiles a lot more than he did when she first met him. He's like a different man.

Could anything be more amazing than that smile? Kairos doesn't think so. "Oh thank you. You totally know me. Like.. it needs to be a lot of Scotch."

Connor would disagree, since he likes her smile better, but her teasing makes him raise one eyebrow. "What's that supposed to mean?" To be fair, Connor drinks like a fish. He's also got a ridiculous tolerance, but it wouldn't be unfair to consider him a borderline alcoholic. He drinks less now that he's happy, though.

Kairos does not mind alcohol, but she does have a healthy respect for the stuff. Her sister was an alcoholic. "You like Scotch, and I ... sort of like it. I figured there would be at least two, three glasses worth. Silly."

Better to save the intervention for some other day. His drinking is down and his mood is up, so for now that should be good enough. "Mmm. Glasses, or bottles? Maybe we should get champagne? That's for celebrating."

Her sister is not drinking anymore, thank goodness. "Or both! Both would be great, don't you think?" She grins at him. "It will be a long flight, after all."

"Guess I'd better look into hotels, too." He looks thoughtful, in a content sort of way. A trip may be just what he needs, since he does enjoy travel once he's motivated to do it.

"Mmmhmmmmm, unless you plan on sleeping under the stars."

If he were alone, he might camp out, or crash in some cheap dive, but with Kai it's an entirely different situation. "Might be cold, near the mountain."

"We can keep warm."

His eyebrows rise slowly. "Do you... want to camp out?"

She shrugs. "That's up to you, I guess. I'm not averse to it, though in Tokyo it would be nice to actually have a room. I just want to be with you."

"I just wasn't sure... how much camping out and hiking up a mountain is your... thing?" He'd figured her for enjoying the shopping in Tokyo part more, and had in mind to find a nice hotel where she'd be entertained while he took a quick visit to a familiar spot.

"It's not going to be my favorite thing ever, but I'll live. I do like the outdoors - maybe we could find some sort of cabins?"

Connor's expression relaxes into a quiet smile again. "I'll see if there's a cabin or a hotel nearby, and I can take a day to go hiking..." He doesn't want her obligated to do anything she might not enjoy, even for his birthday trip.

She slides her hands up his arms. "Find a cabin. It'll be more romantic." There's just something idyllic about waking up with him and watching the sun rise in the early, quiet mornings. "You're up for some romance, riiiight?"

"Always." His grin is a little wolfish, and as she slides her hands up his arms, his arms go down lower to wrap around her so he can scoop her up.

Connor likes quiet mornings, but he could probably be convinced to stay in bed for a few, with her, if they're both awake early and restless.

There's an amused little sound at the scooping. "Good man." And she'll go in for another kiss.

He kisses back, settling onto the chair with her on his lap. "I'm not really, but I'll take the compliment anyway."

She rolls her eyes. "Please. You're an amazing man." She's ready to insist, Connor.

"Oh, Amazing is fine, I'm just not good..." He grins and nuzzles her neck, nipping lightly, as if trying to imply how bad he can be.

Underlying the play is the honest belief that he's not that morally strong. He does what he has to, and remembers his flaws too hard to think of himself as more than just a man, not a good one.

"You'll allow me to vehemently disagree, yes?" There's more kisses, because Kairos really can't leave his mouth alone. "I'm not sure I could be with a man that's not good." She believes so, anyway. It's just not her nature to be with anyone who isn't a good person. With that said, she's entirely aware she always sees the good in people, sometimes to a fault.

"Mmm...mmmmn?" Yes, he could probably argue if he felt like it, but instead goes the route of keeping his own mouth occupied returning kisses, because that's far more interesting. She may never convince him he's a good man, but she could easily talk him into some distracting birthday activities. His hand is already creeping under her clothes to get at her bra hooks.

She's just going to pretend that's him agreeing with her, and not just letting himself get distracted by her mouth. Who knew her lips were so fascinating?!

"Hadn't planned to get this far quite yet, handsome," she whispers. "But I'm not complaining."
